Mother-in-law's tongue is an indoor plant with stiff, upright, erect leaves measuring up to 3 or 4 feet tall. It features a yellow border in its leaf. This plant is the toughest of  all house plants. It tolerates low light and needs little watering during warmer season and during winter it hardly needs any water at all. So it can be grown easily  under shady condition inside our home with little care.

Croton plants are popular for their bright foliage which is multicolored. Its leaves are stiff and pointed upward. There is a waxy layer on the upper surface of the leaf blade which makes one to feel smooth when touched. The plant requires moderate to bright sunlight and for this it is necessary to keep the plant near the window so that it can get optimum sunlight. It requires heavy watering and this requirement makes the maintenance of the plant difficult. In spite of having difficulty in maintenance of the plant people prefer croton plants for their attractive look.

Hippeastrum

Hippeastrum is also known as amaryllis. It is a flowering indoor plant. It is propagated through bulb and is one of the most elegant and spectacular bulbs for indoor flowering. Hippeastrum flowers are of  various colors  including shades of red, white, pink, salmon and orange and many other combinations of two colors. It requires little care to grow as indoor plant and can be easily planted in a pot to enhance the beauty of interior home. 




Areca Palm

Areca palm, also known as butterfly palm. It thrives well under normal home condition. It requires large container to grow and for this it is better suited to corridor or balcony. It requires medium to high sunlight and frequent watering. So much care should be taken when growing areca palm as indoor plant.

Spider plants are grown as hanging indoor plants. It is suitable for pergolas and porches. Green and white striped "Variegatum" is much popular variety of spider plant. Among various hanging indoor plants spider plant is the easiest to grow.

Kalanchoe is a succulent plant. It is easy to grow as indoor plant. It requires bright sunlight, especially during summer and for this the plant should be kept near the window or in a balcony. Moderate watering is required to grow this plant. This plant looks more beautiful when it is in bloom.

Cactus has a distinctive appearance as a result of water conservation capacity compared to other indoor plants. It is a sun loving indoor plant and is very easy to grow as it requires very little care. Cactus requires little water but during spring sufficient water should be applied as the plant is in growing stage at this period. When flowers bloom it looks more beautiful.

Lucky Bamboo or Ornamental Bamboo

Another name of lucky bamboo is ornamental bamboo. Designing of its stem increases its expense, especially in case of curled stem. To grow lucky bamboo a clean environment must be ensured so that it can thrive well for a long time. It requires little light and can be grown inside a room but not in near darkness.

Caladium is a flowering indoor plant. It is also known as elephant ear, heart of Jesus and angel wings. Two forms of caladium are widely cultivated and they are fancy-leaved and lance-leaved. Caladium requires moderate watering and full shade. So, it will fit well inside ones living room. By growing caladium inside a room one can easily enhance the beauty of the room.

African violet is a flowering indoor plant and its flowers are very attractive. It is a compact plant with dark green, thick and hairy leaves. The flowers are of pink, white and violet colors and often with blue-violet shade. To grow african violet it is necessary to keep the soil moist at all time. As direct sunlight is not necessary, it is kept inside a room. Plants kept in good condition flowers continuously.

Money Plant is one of the most hassle free and easy to grow indoor plants. It is famous for its heart shaped white, yellow and dark green shiny leaves. It helps to purify air. It is grown in small to medium sized pots. Money plant requires wet soil and the soil should be rich in organic matter. The plant should be kept in shade. The less light it gets the more darker it becomes and enhances the beauty.
